-Calcium Alginate Dressing Pads is composed of manuka honey and calcium alginate non-woven fabric. Manuka honey is a medical-grade honey derived from the pollen and nectar of the Leptospermum species of plant in New Zealand and Australia.- -Manuka Honey Calcium Alginate Dressing Pads is a novel honey based dressing. The dressing contains 95% Active Leptospermum Honey and can be used to cover a shallow wound or fill a deep wound, while providing a moist environment conducive to wound healing.- -As wound fluid enters the dressing, the honey is released while the dressing absorbs and forms a gel. Multiple mechanisms of action include reducing edema, lowering wound pH and debriding slough and eschar.- -Calcium Alginate Dressings Pads are indicated for the management of moderately-to-highly exuding wounds such as: Pressure ulcers, Leg ulcers, Non-infected diabetic foot ulcer, Skin abrasions, Post-operative wound, Lacerations and abrasion.- -Can be safely worn for several days, depending on wound condition and exudate levels. As wound fluid enters the dressing, the honey is released while the dressing absorbs and forms a gel, creating an optimal honey healing environment. It has a low pH, and has been shown to help lower the overall wound pH, which is beneficial to chronic wounds.
